REGIONAL UNIVERSITIES CELEBRATE THE REGIONAL PRECINCTS AND PARTNERSHIPS PROGRAM

22 August 2023

The Regional Universities Network (RUN) welcomes the Albanese Government’s opening of the $400 million Regional Precincts and Partnerships grants program.

RUN Executive Director Alec Webb said the Regional Precincts and Partnerships grants program can transform regional, rural, and remote Australia.

“The Regional Precincts and Partnerships grants program is of vital importance in solidifying regional communities and driving regional economies.

“Regional universities, who are often the largest employers in their communities, are anchor institutions and their inclusion in the Regional Precincts and Partnerships grants program is a welcome step in creating resilient and thriving local economies, communities, and citizens.

“Investment in regional Australia is an investment in the nation, and this program has the potential to transform communities, create opportunities and increase the prosperity of all Australians”, said Mr Webb.

RUN has long advocated for a dedicated regional development program that includes Australia’s world class regional universities, and we commend the Government for ensuring regional universities are able to leverage their considerable regional presence in developing successful precincts and partnerships.
