RUN offers its congratulations to Dr Paul Hemming AO, Chancellor, Federation University Australia, and Professor Caroline Finch AO, Research Director and Executive Dean of Graduate Studies, Federation University Australia, for their Australia Day awards.

The Chair of RUN, Professor Greg Hill, said that the awards recognised the commitment to community of regional university staff.

Dr Paul Hemming AO has been appointed Officer (AO) in the general division for distinguished service to higher education administration, to medicine through contributions to a range of professional medical associations, and to the community of central Victoria, particularly as a general practitioner.

“In addition to his other achievements, Dr Hemming AO has taken a leadership role in convening meetings of the RUN university chancellors. This has been an opportunity to share experience and ideas on the governance of regional universities,” Professor Hill said.

Professor Caroline Finch AO received her award for distinguished service to sports medicine, particularly in the area of injury prevention as an educator, researcher and author, and to the promotion of improved health in athletes and those who exercise.

“Professor Finch’s award not only demonstrates the excellent research undertaken at regional universities, but also the major impact it has on communities, locally, nationally and internationally,” Professor Hill said.

“On behalf of RUN, I heartily congratulate the two awardees.”
